About Dan and Ken
Dan and Ken Durand are singer/songwriters who have been playing
music for many years. As brothers, it has been said that their voices
blend exceedingly well in the strong harmonies they perform. They
favor music that is fun and encourages them and others to think.
Dan and Ken have released two CDs. The first was a single written for a
fundraiser for "Shelter From the Storm," a group that provides
transitional housing for people who have lost housing for a variety of
reasons. "To have our music support such a wonderful organization has
been very rewarding," say the guys.
In 2019 Dan and Ken recorded their second CD, "Wild Ocean"
consisting of eleven original songs. Sometimes bluesy, sometimes jazzy,
sometimes nostalgic and always from the heart, they love to bring
harmonies to make us smile. Topics of the songs contained in the album
are quite eclectic. The title song "Wild Ocean" is inspired by the widow
walks dotting the coast of Maine. "Laura Bridgman" introduces us to the
first Deafblind person to receive a successful formalized education. The
humorous "The Label" notes the craziness of many labels on products.
A show with Dan and Ken might include social commentary, humor,
strong harmonies as well as some sign language for good measure. They
love to involve participants in song and to share stories that might make
people laugh or ponder. As stated by Pam Stohrer of "The Open Door,"
"You two are the personification of grace and talent ...we didn't hear
enough of you last night."
